Is thread facelift painful?
Thread lift, commonly known as thread lifting procedures, is a method that has been used in the field of medical aesthetics for many years. Threads are placed into the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) layer beneath the skin. You won't feel pain in this layer because major blood vessels and nerves are located beneath it. Local anesthesia is applied to the entry points on the skin, making the procedure painless or minimally painful.
There is typically no pain after the procedure. However, you may experience swelling and a feeling of tightness depending on the placement of the threads. For this situation, we can use pain relievers for 3-4 days.
Post-procedure, a short course of antibiotics is administered to control local infection. It is recommended to avoid showering, swimming, or entering saunas for at least 3 days.
Wearing a facelift corset for one week is advised. The purpose here is to maximize the effect from the threads, thus minimizing the risk of breakage and loosening of the threads after the thread lift.
In our clinic, we prefer absorbable threads. The total effect duration varies between 2-3 years, depending on the individual's skin quality. The lifting effect on the skin becomes visibly apparent immediately after the thread placement. The threads stimulate collagen production, leading to tightening and brightness in the skin within 3 weeks. This way, we enhance skin quality while also lifting the loose areas of the face.
In summary, thread lifting procedures for the face and neck do not require general anesthesia and can be performed in office conditions. Since there are no significant bruises, swelling, or stitching involved afterward, it has become increasingly popular in recent years. It is certainly a procedure that can be combined with Botox and filler treatments. If necessary, rejuvenation injections can be performed after the procedure. Before the procedure, fractional laser or collagen injections are recommended to enhance skin quality and extend the longevity of the threads, if needed.
